In Quito, SERVIR-Amazonia Program team management, the Alliance of Bioversity International and the International Center for Tropical Agriculture (CIAT) and Fundación EcoCiencia technicians held a series of strategic meetings and interviews to evaluate the scope of the INAMHI-GEOGLOWS service information in Ecuador, a key tool for weather forecasting and fire monitoring that provides key information for risk management and reduction.

At the EcoCiencia Foundation office, the operation of the service and its integration with territorial conservation initiatives were discussed. At the governmental level, meetings with the Undersecretariat of Natural Forest Heritage of the Ministry of Environment, Water and Ecological Transition (MAATE) and the Amazonia Without Fire Program (PASF) allowed for exploring how this technology can strengthen decision-making regarding forest resources and environmental management.

Interviews with the GAD of the Province of Imbabura and the National Secretariat for Risk Management examined the potential of this service to influence local and institutional policies related to extreme weather events and territorial management.

Additional meetings were held with key stakeholders to expand cooperation and use of INAMHI-GEOGLOWS. With Coordinator of the Indigenous Organizations of the Amazon Basin (COICA), strategies for disseminating the tool to benefit indigenous Amazonian communities were explored. With THE Electric Corporation of Ecuador (CELEC), its potential impact on hydroelectric operation and water resource planning was evaluated.

These meetings strengthen inter-institutional alliances and seek to maximize the impact of the tool on sustainable natural resource management and climate resilience in Ecuador.

These meetings were held within the framework of the SERVIR-Amazonia Program, which is part of SERVIR Global, a development initiative jointly funded by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).
