Imaflora was present at the GeoforGood Mini Summit 2024 event to present the work ‘Integrating New Radar Data into Google Earth Engine (GEE) to Reveal Perennial Cultures in the Brazilian Amazon under the SERVIR-Amazonia Project’.

Caroline Salomão, consultant for the project, presented the recent work developed by Imaflora and NASA – National Aeronautics and Space Administration, which hopes to develop geospatial solutions for mapping and monitoring crops in the Amazon, mainly in agroforestry systems and small properties. The objective is for these solutions to facilitate small producers’ access to credit policies and payment programs for environmental services.

The event featured important names such as Tasso Azevedo, founder of MapBiomas and advisor to Imaflora, and Rebecca Moore, creator of Google Earth Engine (GEE). It was a great opportunity to share the latest technical and scientific advances around nature-based solutions and to delve deeper into Google’s supporting geospatial solutions, with a focus on climate mitigation through nature-based solutions.
