Within the framework of the SERVIR-Amazonia program, professionals from the National Aeronautics and Space Administration of the United States of America – NASA and the United States Agency for International Development – USAID, visited the Los Amigos Conservation Concession in Madre de Dios. This visit was a unique opportunity for them to learn about the threats facing the Amazon and the work that Conservation Amazonia – ACCA is doing to protect more than 146 thousand hectares of pristine forest.

During the tour, visitors were able to appreciate the impressive biodiversity of the area and the important work carried out by the rangers or conservation promoters, who showed them the tools they use such as GPS, drones and the EarthRanger, which they use to report threats and monitor and surveil illicit activities such as illegal mining.
In addition, representatives from NASA and USAID visited the Los Amigos Biological Station, which hosts researchers from various parts of the world dedicated to the conservation of this key biodiversity area. The visit highlighted the importance of international collaboration in research and the use of advanced technology for the protection and conservation of the Amazon.
